Strauss has been working for many years on the development of an automated, selective green asparagus harvester that is technically and economically convincing. The first successful trials were already carried out in the 2016 season in England. Subsequently, the technology was fundamentally revised with a focus on simple but fast mechanics and intelligent control. This resulted in a selective asparagus harvester that is very precise and fast in the field, but at the same time easy and cost-effective to maintain.

The patented cable robot can perform up to 30 harvesting operations per minute per tool, controlled by a software module that reliably recognizes the size and position of individual asparagus spears in 3D images using artificial intelligence. This allows rows of asparagus to be harvested fully automatically and the full boxes to be safely deposited at the end of the row. The model in the photo offers space for two tools that can be operated independently of each other.
