OptiSort G Series

The high sorting quality of our optical asparagus sorting lines is the result of over 20 years of experience and cooperation with our customers.

The Strauss sorting lines are equipped with a matured, resource-efficient cleaning system: The asparagus is cleaned gently with lots of water, which is reprocessed, and little pressure.

The asparagus is then singled and rotated in its sorting tray beneath the high-performance camera to optically determine its quality and then assign it to the corresponding collecting cup according to the adjustable quality levels.

The modular design of the machines enables them to be adapted to customers’ individual needs and to be extended.

  • No incorrect assignment thanks to all-round optical detection in the sorting tray

  • No uncontrolled free fall

  • Low water consumption thanks to reprocessing

  • Ergonomic operation

  • User-friendly machine operation

  • Food-compliant materials

  • Processing of white and green asparagus on one line

During quality determination by the camera, each asparagus stem is rotated so that up to 100% of its surface are registered and it is evaluated based on up to 23 sorting criteria.

For example:

  • Diameter (end or middle of the stem, averaged or max. value)
  • Length
  • Curvature of the overall stem, curvature in the tip area, S shape
  • Club-shape, ovality
  • Tip quality (blossoming)
  • Cracks, grooves
  • Colour spectrum subdivided into the tip, neck and stem area (rust, purple, green)

The sorting software’s colour recognition function evaluates discolourations and rotten spots in the tip, neck and stem area separately in order to ensure high sorting quality. Automatic white balance and temperature control in the video area always ensure identical sorting parameters without external influences.

To precisely register and evaluate the tip quality of green asparagus, the system can be extended with a second camera specifically for measuring the tip.

Various sorting programs for white, purple and green asparagus with diverse parameters can be stored in the sorting line and called up at any time with a few clicks of a button.

All sorting data is stored by the machine in table form for further analyses and evaluations, and can be processed by and called up from the machine.
